Tide Terms of Use
Zeti LLC · Updated October 3, 2026
Effective October 3, 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Zeti LLC ("Zeti", "we", "us"), the company that makes Tide. By using Tide, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Tide.
1. Who can use Tide
Tide is for people 13 and older. If you're under the age of majority where you live, use Tide only with a parent's or guardian's permission.
2. Your license
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Tide for your own non-commercial purposes, on devices you own or control, as the app store you got it from allows. Please don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer Tide, except where the law allows it.
3. Your data stays yours
Your habits, goals, notes and health totals are yours, and they stay on your device (see the privacy policy). Because we keep no copy, we can't recover them if your device is lost, reset or the app is deleted. Your device's own backup is the way to keep them safe.
4. Coaching, not medical advice
Tide and Ott help you build habits you choose. Tide is not a medical device. It doesn't give medical, mental-health, nutrition or other professional advice, and it doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
- Talk to a doctor or another qualified professional before you start a new exercise, diet, sleep or health routine, especially if you have a health condition.
- Health totals come from Apple Health or Health Connect and can be late, incomplete or wrong.
- Tide is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number now. In the United States, you can call or text 988.
5. Ott and the Raft are AI characters
Ott and the otters in your Raft (Pip, Mo, Kelpie and Nori) are AI characters, not people. Their lines are written by us or, if you turn on Ott's AI, generated on your device by an AI model. The Raft's weeks are simulated to keep you company and to cheer you on.
AI can be wrong, odd or inappropriate. Don't rely on it for important decisions, and use your own judgment.
6. The on-device AI and Gemma
Ott's optional AI uses Google's Gemma model, which you download to your device when you turn the feature on.
Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms.
By turning on the AI, you agree not to use it for anything the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy forbids, such as generating content that is illegal, that harms or harasses people, that sexualizes minors, or that deceives people into thinking it was written by a human. The model file comes from a third-party host (currently Hugging Face), under that host's terms.
7. Reporting an AI reply
If Ott or the Raft writes something wrong or offensive, press and hold the reply and choose Report, or email contact@zeti.ai. Tide hides a reported reply right away. We read every report we receive and use it to make Ott safer.
8. Using Tide fairly
Don't use Tide to break the law, to harm anyone, or to try to make the AI produce harmful content. Don't interfere with Tide or try to get around its safety features.
9. Rewards
Shells, kelp, themes and other in-app rewards have no cash value and can't be exchanged for money. Tide has no purchases today. If we ever add any, the app store's payment terms will apply, and we'll update these terms first.
10. Beta versions
Test builds (for example on TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks) are unfinished. They can have bugs, change without notice or lose data. If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve Tide, with no obligation to you.
11. Other companies' services
Tide works with services we don't control, such as Apple Health, Health Connect, the app stores and the AI model's host. Their own terms and policies apply to your use of them.
12. Our rights
Tide, Ott, the Raft, the artwork and the name are ours. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the app. Open-source software in Tide is listed, with its licenses, under Profile → About Tide → Licenses.
13. No warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, Tide is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't promise that Tide will be uninterrupted, error-free or right for your goals.
14. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Zeti and its members, employees and agents are not liable for any damages arising from your use of Tide, or from not being able to use it: direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive, including lost data, lost streaks or progress, and lost profits, even if we were told they were possible.
If we're held liable anyway, our total liability for all claims about Tide is limited to the greater of what you paid for Tide in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
Some places don't allow these exclusions or limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability or rights that the law doesn't let us limit.
15. Ending
You can stop using Tide at any time by deleting it. We may change, suspend or stop offering Tide. If you break these terms, your license ends.
16. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date above. If a change is material, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Using Tide after a change means you accept it.
17. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in North Carolina, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them there. Nothing here takes away rights that consumer law gives you and that can't be waived.
18. If you got Tide from Apple's App Store
- These terms are between you and Zeti, not Apple. Zeti, not Apple, is responsible for Tide and its content.
- Your license lets you use Tide on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow, including via Family Sharing where it's on.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Tide.
- If Tide fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for Tide, if any. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Tide.
- Zeti, not Apple, is responsible for any claims about Tide, including product-liability claims, claims that Tide fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement (including about HealthKit), and consumer-protection or privacy claims.
- If someone claims Tide infringes their intellectual property, Zeti, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending and settling that claim.
- You confirm that you aren't located in a country under a U.S. government embargo or listed as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you aren't on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.
