Tide Privacy Policy
Zeti LLC · Updated October 3, 2026
Effective October 3, 2026. Tide is made by Zeti LLC.
The short version: Tide has no account and no server. Your habits, your goals, your health numbers and anything you say to Ott stay on your device. We don't collect them, we can't see them, and we never sell them. No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
Who we are
Tide is an app made by Zeti LLC ("Zeti", "we", "us"), a company in North Carolina, United States. You can reach us at contact@zeti.ai. This policy covers the Tide app on every platform it runs on. Our website, zeti.ai, has its own privacy policy.
What Tide keeps, and where
Everything Tide stores lives in a database on your device. On the web version, it lives in your browser's storage for the Tide site. That includes:
- your habits, check-ins, streaks, shells, kelp, themes and your place on the Voyage;
- the goal you write in your own words, your plans, notes, weekly logs and ratings;
- your settings, such as language, sound, reminders and quiet hours;
- the daily totals Tide reads for your health habits (see below);
- your conversations with Ott, if you use the on-device AI.
On iPhone and Android, Tide also keeps a small copy of today's habits in a storage area shared with its own home-screen widget, so the widget can show them. That copy stays on your device too.
There is no Tide account and no Tide server. We don't receive a copy of any of this.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools inside the app.
- No tracking you across other companies' apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of personal information, including "selling" or "sharing" as California law defines them.
Apple Health and Health Connect
Health habits can complete themselves from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android.
- Only when you ask. Tide asks for access only when you create a health habit, and only to the data that habit needs: steps, distance, exercise minutes, workouts, mindful minutes, water, sleep or flights climbed.
- Read-only. Tide never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect.
- Used for one thing. Tide reads your daily totals to complete your health habits and show your progress, on your device.
- Never shared. Health data is never sent to us or to anyone else. It is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, never sold, and never used to decide eligibility for credit, insurance or a job. No person reads it.
- Kept on your device. Tide stores one total per day for each health habit in its database on your device, and keeps it until you delete the app. Tide never sends it over a network or uploads it anywhere, including iCloud (your device's own backup is covered under Backups below). Your device's own encryption protects it at rest.
- Apple's rules. Tide uses HealthKit data only to provide its health features, as App Store Review Guideline 5.1.3 requires.
- Google's rules. Tide's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can turn access off at any time: on iPhone in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Tide, and on Android in the Health Connect app under App permissions → Tide.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications. Tide schedules them on your device and writes their words there too. They don't pass through a server.
Ott's on-device AI (optional)
Ott can use an AI model, Google's Gemma, to talk with you in fresh words. It is off until you turn it on.
- The download. When you turn it on, Tide asks before downloading the model (a file of a few gigabytes). The file comes from a third-party model host, currently Hugging Face. Like any download, the host receives your device's IP address and basic request details, such as the time and the app or browser making the request, under its own privacy policy. Tide sends none of your habits, goals or health data with that request.
- On your device. After the download, the AI runs entirely on your device. What you type to Ott, and what Ott and the Raft write back, never leave it.
- Removing it. Deleting Tide deletes the model along with everything else.
Ott and the Raft are AI characters
Ott and the otters in your Raft (Pip, Mo, Kelpie and Nori) are AI characters, not people. Their lines are written by us or, if you turn on the on-device AI, generated on your device. No person reads your messages or writes replies.
Reporting an AI reply
If Ott or the Raft writes something wrong or offensive, you can report it in the app: press and hold the reply, then choose Report. Tide hides it right away. If you choose to send the report to us, we receive only what the report shows you before you send it: the reported text, the reason you picked and the app version. You can also email contact@zeti.ai. We use reports only to make Ott safer.
Sharing, links and email
- Share cards. When you tap Share on a milestone, your device's share sheet opens. What you share, and with whom, is up to you; the app you pick handles it under its own policy.
- Links. The privacy policy, terms and other links open in your browser.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them only to answer you. We keep support emails only as long as we need them to help you.
What Apple and Google may share with us
Apple and Google run the app stores, under their own privacy policies. If you have allowed your device to share analytics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us aggregated statistics and crash reports that don't identify you. We use them only to find and fix problems.
Beta testing. If you test Tide through TestFlight, Apple shares with us the name and email address you were invited with, and any feedback or crash reports you choose to send. If you test Tide on Google Play, we keep your email address on our tester list. We use these only to run the beta.
Backups
If you use iCloud Backup or your Android device's backup, that backup may include Tide's data. The backup is between you and Apple or Google, under their terms. We can't see it.
Children
Tide is for people 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Tide doesn't collect personal information from anyone, children included. If you think a child under 13 has emailed us, contact us and we'll delete the email.
Your choices and rights
Your Tide data is on your device, so you're in control of it: you can see it in the app, change it and delete it.
- Delete everything. Delete the Tide app. On Android, you can also go to Settings → Apps → Tide → Storage → Clear storage. On the web, clear the site's data in your browser.
- Your rights. Laws such as the GDPR and California's privacy law give you rights to access, correct and delete personal information a company holds about you. We don't hold your Tide data. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to see or delete those emails.
Security
Your data is protected by your device's own security: the app sandbox and the device's encryption. Keep your device locked with a passcode to protect it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change is material, such as Tide starting to collect data, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
